John Konicek

Director of Adult Formation & Parish Spirituality, St. Patrick Catholic Community 

John Konicek is currently Director of Adult Formation and Parish Spirituality at St. Patrick Catholic Community in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has an undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University in Speech Therapy/Communications Disorders and Special Education. He did graduate work in Philosophy, Choral Conducting, and Voice Performance at Loyola University New Orleans. He earned a Masters of Divinity and a Licentiate of Sacred Theology at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA, and a Doctorate of Sacred Theology at Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA. 

 

John has been a teacher/therapist for every age level, from infants to the elderly. He taught courses in theology and music at Loyola University New Orleans where he was the University Director of Liturgy and on the Campus Ministry staff. While at Loyola John offered courses and workshops through the Loyola Pastoral Life Center which provided formation programs for lay leadership and worship. He also taught liturgical theology for Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, The Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, and as an Associate Professor of Theology at Boston College. 

 

John received his training in Spiritual Direction at The Mercy Center in Burlingame, CA and the Jesuit Spirituality Center in Grand Coteau, LA. He has served as a spiritual director for many laypersons, religious sisters, seminarians, and priests and led retreats in numerous retreat centers across the country. He was the Director of Liturgical, Spiritual, and Communal Life for the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry at Boston College.
